"Permanent Christmas lights" is the trade name for a low-profile LED channel installed under the drip edge of your roofline. It stays up year-round, disappears in daylight, and runs any color you want at night from an app.

The honest cons
1. Up-front cost
The break-even point compared to paying for traditional installation each year depends on your property and how many seasons you typically hire it out. If you were going to hang your own lights anyway, that math changes.
2. It has to be installed well
A quality permanent system is nearly invisible in daylight. A bad install shows the channel from the street, drips wire down the fascia, and looks like an afterthought. This is one you don't hire on price.
3. Not every home is a great candidate
Homes with clean rooflines, generous soffits, and continuous fascia are perfect. Homes with heavy stone gables, complex mansards, or very short eaves can be trickier and sometimes traditional installation is still the better answer.
